Meet Anna Vincenti

Committed to Your Well-being

Hi, I'm Anna Vincenti, Licensed Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Practitioner from Edinburgh!

I am a licensed Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner based in Edinburgh, Scotland, specialising in Five-Element, TCM Acupuncture and holistic health. I studied at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM) for 3 and a half years, where I gained a deep understanding of both TCM and Five-Element acupuncture. These two systems provide me with a strong foundation in diagnosis and treatment. Beyond my formal education, I have expanded my skills through CPD courses, including advanced channel palpation and facial enhancement (cosmetic) acupuncture.

For many years, I was a professional sports athlete, representing Team GB in skiing and playing football for Scotland, Hibernian, and Celtic FC. Unfortunately, frequent injuries led to multiple surgeries and lengthy rehabilitation periods. It was during this time that I developed a fascination with how the body heals. My interest in acupuncture grew after experiencing firsthand how it helped me recover, sparking my passion for holistic healing and natural medicine.

Now, as a licensed acupuncturist, I focus on treating a wide range of conditions, including:

With acupuncture’s whole-body approach, I can address specific conditions and overall well-being, making it a transformative experience for my patients. In my practice, you can expect a peaceful and healing environment where I provide gentle, personalised care tailored to your unique needs.

My mission is to share the powerful benefits of acupuncture and help you achieve your best health. I'm dedicated to guiding you through your wellness journey, offering high-quality care and a compassionate, holistic approach to healing.

I can’t wait to meet you and work together to help you reach your full health potential!

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a cornerstone of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), dating back over 2500 years. This ancient healing practice focuses on stimulating specific acupuncture points and meridians (channels) in the body that are connected to internal organs. By inserting ultra-thin needles into these points, acupuncture helps to strengthen, harmonise, regulate, or drain energy in the targeted channels, promoting natural healing and balance.

Acupuncture has been shown to effectively treat a variety of health conditions, including:

  • Joint and muscle pain

  • Chronic pain relief

  • Gastritis and digestive issues

  • Insomnia

  • Anxiety and stress relief

  • Psychological disorders

Whether you’re seeking relief from physical discomfort or aiming to improve your mental well-being, acupuncture is a powerful, natural therapy that addresses both the body and mind.

Fire cupping

Cupping

Fire Cupping

Dry cupping therapy is a popular Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) technique that uses suction to pull the skin and underlying tissue upward into specialised cups, creating a vacuum-like effect. This process helps increase blood flow, stimulates the flow of Qi (energy), and promotes the body’s natural healing abilities.

During a dry cupping session, a licensed practitioner places cups on specific acupuncture points or targeted body areas. These cups may stay stationary or be moved to target different areas based on the individual’s needs.

The suction created by the cups helps to:

  • Release muscle tension

  • Improve circulation

  • Promote relaxation

  • Alleviate pain

  • Reduce inflammation

  • Enhance overall well-being

Dry cupping is an effective therapy for those seeking to relieve chronic pain, muscle stiffness, and inflammation while supporting the body’s energy balance.

Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese healing technique that involves applying pressure and scraping the skin’s surface using a smooth-edged tool, typically made of jade or horn. This action helps stimulate blood flow and enhance the flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body. The scraping motion creates small red marks called petechiae, which indicate the release of stagnation and promote healing.

The benefits of Gua Sha therapy include:

  • Breaking up adhesions and scar tissue

  • Relieving muscle tension

  • Improving circulation

  • Reducing inflammation

  • Alleviating pain

Gua Sha supports the body’s natural healing response by increasing blood flow to specific areas. It is commonly used to treat muscle pain, chronic tension, and inflammation and is effective for boosting the immune system and improving overall health and well-being. Gua Sha can be performed on the back, neck, shoulders, and limbs, but it is versatile enough to be applied to other areas of the body depending on the specific needs of the individual.

Facial Enhancement

Cosmetic acupuncture, also known as facial rejuvenation or facial enhancing acupuncture, involves inserting fine needles into specific facial points. This treatment is designed to naturally enhance the skin’s appearance by promoting blood circulation and stimulating collagen and elastin production.

These effects help to:

  • Reduce wrinkles

  • Minimize fine lines

  • Improve skin tone

  • Boost elasticity

  • Address other signs of aging

moxa

Moxa

moxa

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese Medicine technique that involves burning dried Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) near specific points on the body. The heat generated by the burning moxa stimulates circulation, enhances the flow of Qi (energy), and promotes natural healing.

Often used alongside acupuncture, moxibustion is effective for treating various conditions, including:

  • Chronic pain

  • Digestive disorders

  • Menstrual issues

  • Cold and stagnant conditions

Moxibustion helps to warm the body, reduce inflammation, and support overall well-being.

Auricular acupuncture is a specialised form of Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves placing fine needles into specific points on the ear to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

This effective therapy can be used to address a variety of conditions, including:

  • Chronic pain

  • Addiction and substance abuse

  • Stress and anxiety relief

  • Digestive disorders

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Sleep disorders

  • Menstrual and reproductive health

Auricular acupuncture helps balance the body's energy (Qi) and supports overall health by stimulating precise acupuncture points on the ear.

Client Success Stories

"To be honest, I was initially sceptical and quite scared about trying acupuncture, but my experience with Anna completely changed that. Her calm energy, positive attitude, and genuine concern for fixing my problems made me feel instantly comfortable. She really took the time to understand my issues and find the root cause, and once the first needle was in, I was amazed at how easy the experience actually was, and a little embarrassed for having been so afraid, haha. Best of all, my neck feels significantly better now, and I actually look forward to my next session."

Where are acupuncture needles placed?

The placement of acupuncture needles during treatment depends on the condition being treated and the individual's specific symptoms. The exact locations and number of needles used are determined by the diagnosis and treatment plan. Acupuncture points are situated along meridians throughout the body, allowing practitioners to insert needles in various locations. Often, needles may be placed in areas distant from the site of injury to influence the body's overall energy flow and achieve therapeutic effects.

Does acupuncture hurt?

The acupuncture needles I use are incredibly thin—much finer than the needles used for injections. While you might feel a slight tugging sensation or a dull ache, it’s not painful. In fact, many of my clients are surprised at how gentle it is, often asking, "Is that it?" or "I didn’t even feel the needles come out!" My approach to needling is very gentle, ensuring you feel at ease and comfortable throughout the treatment, with little to no discomfort.

What can acupuncture help with?

The National Institute of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recognise acupuncture as an effective treatment for a wide variety of medical issues.

The British Acupuncture Council have stated that acupuncture could provide support for conditions such as acne, allergic rhinitis, angina & heart disease, anxiety, asthma, back pain, bells palsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, dementia, dentistry issues, depression, diabetes type 2, dizziness and vertigo, dysmenorrhoea, eczema & psoriasis, endometriosis, facial pain, fibromyalgia, frozen shoulder, gout, headaches, hypertension, incontinence, infertility, insomnia, neck pain, osteoarthritis of the knee, post-traumatic stress disorder and stroke. However, the research on the benefits of acupuncture on other conditions is continuously being explored. Check out my blog as I keep up to date with all the latest research!
